Watchdog says Telegram’s muting in Russia excluded now
MOSCOW, Oct 31 (PRIME) -- Blocking of Telegram in Russia is currently out of the question, the communications service said on October 29.
“Regarding the released information about restriction of access to resource Telegram we inform that blocking of this social network in currently excluded on the territory of the country,” the communications watchdog said in a statement.
According to the authority’s register for checks of blocking of pages and resources, the watchdog earlier cut access to domain t.me.
As a ground for putting the domain on the register, clause 15.3 of the law on information was indicated – it regulates restriction of access to the data containing calls to massive riots and participation in unsanctioned campaigns, extremism, and unreliable information.
The domain later disappeared from the register of restricted resources.
The Prosecutor General’s Office said that it had not filed a request to the communications watchdog to block the domain.
